Runa

I joined the mental health and workplace wellbeing space on a short contract many years ago. Truth be told, I didn’t have any intention to stay. However, during that time, I experienced a breakdown of my mental health. I used to be the type of person that thought these things could never happen to me, can to other people but never to me.... And of course, it does happen to me.

In that moment it hit me how vulnerable I was and how fallible as a human being too and that it can happen to any one of us. That entire experience became a game changer for me, and this is all very much a "personal" professional journey for me now.

If I can help at least one person from everything I do, then as far as I am concerned, I have earnt my bread!!

Why we are doing what we do?

Sadly my story is not unique.

Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year. Having been that 1 in 4 I know first hand how tough life can get, feeling, alone, scared, worthless, embarrassed and worried that everything will come crashing down and feeling like I will never be able to cope again. Through my employers and managers support I realised that I was wrong, that I wasn’t worthless, that I had a lot to offer and that I could really thrive.
And they were right because I really thrived.

"Struggling with your mental health doesn't have to mean end of career or not being able to work."
Deloitte Logo

Deloitte routinely demonstrate through their research that mental health problems cost the working industry between £53 and £56 billion.

However, when employers meaningfully invest in wellbeing interventions not only is the return of investment £5 to every £1, but that people also feel valued and cared for and thus directly impacting on loyalty, staff retention, productivity and morale.

My WHY is what our World needs

  • Trauma-informed, human-centred leadership in organisations.

  • Safer workplaces for people who’ve always felt like outsiders.

  • Brave conversations about race, mental health, and power.

  • Lived experience woven into policy, practice, and culture.

  • People like you modelling what it means to live freely and fully, even when healing is messy.

Which is why today, with a decade’s worth of experience under my belt, I help organisations and employers make that meaningful investment into employee wellbeing journey in creating a safe mentally healthy workplace.

I offer
bespoke training, consultancy, coaching, speaking engagements, action planning, policy reviews as well as training and consultancy around setting up robust mental health champion networks through an inclusive and intersectional lens.

Ultimately my end game will always be to get to a place where everyone will feel safe to say that they aren’t ok trusting that they will continue to be valued, be supported through that tough time and not penalised in anyway.
